The Saffron Walden Maze Festival is taking place from August 16th – 19th, with many events to suit all ages taking place across the town.
Mazes Everywhere!
As well as the turf labyrinth on the Common and the hedge maze in Bridge End Garden you will find a small version of the Chartres labyrinth in St Mary’s Church, a bronze maze in the Fry Art Gallery, a maze made out of knitting in the garden of the Museum and a maze in the flower bed on London Road. There’s a mown maze in the walled garden of Audley End House and all over town there will be mazes in shop windows, finger mazes on fingerposts and even mazes sprayed on pavements! The Saffron Walden Arts Trust will also be joining in with a maze created from our logo.
One of the highlights will be four short plays one of which was written by a local History teacher, Mr Bob Crossan, called Theseus and the Minator. These plays will be performed by professional actors in Bridge End Gardens on the Saturday 17th. Admission is free and the plays will be performed at 3 pm, 4.15 pm and 5.30 pm.
